We would like to thank Professor Alina Kasinska for her time and commitment during her research stay at the University of Passau.

Alina Kasinska is a Professor at the International Classical University in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, where she works on various topics such as regional economics, conservation funds and organisational mechanisms for the management of protected areas.

Professor Kasinska conducted research as a PICAIS Fellow from July to December 2023 at Prof Dr Andreas König's Chair of Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The topic of her research project is: "Organizational Adaptation to sustained cosmological Crisis - Extension of a longitudinal study of nature parks in Ukraine during the Russian invasion and the (de)occupation since February 2022".

This project was designed with three main objectives: (1) the scientific exchange with academics within the PICAIS programme, (2) the initiation of an application to the German Research Foundation to obtain further funding and (3) the conduct of in-depth interviews to gain a better understanding and deepen the scope of the case study of Ukrainian national parks, and to extend the analysis to other parks.

Professor Kasinska was able to achieve these goals during her research stay in Passau. She was also able to lay the foundations for further collaboration with representatives of Ukrainian national parks and continue work on ongoing research projects. For example, the database on newly occurring damage to natural habitats and the assessment of financial damage was expanded. During her fellowship, Alina Kasinska presented her findings at the Academy of Management conference in Boston and the Academic Network Eastern Europe conference in Regensburg, among others.

It was a pleasure to welcome Professor Kasinska as a Research-in-Residence Fellow, to work and network with her. We hope she had a pleasant and enriching stay and will visit Passau again soon!
