Under the theme "Bioeconomy: The Road to Sustainable Development?", the workshop comprised six sessions covering a wide range of bioeconomy topics such as fundamental concepts, the forest-based bioeconomy, residues and agriculture, biodiversity, bioenergy and the potential of alternative proteins.
The program offered two networking sessions and a plenary panel to promote scientific exchange. The participating scholars had the opportunity to present their research results, build valuable connections and discuss the topic of bioeconomy in the context of sustainability from different perspectives. The workshop lays the groundwork for future activities such as the organization of annual workshops, shared research papers, special sessions at conferences, junior researcher exchanges, and special issues in academic journals.
The event was supported by the Passau International Centre for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (PICAIS) and the University of Passau’s event funding pool.
We would like to thank all participating scholars and speakers for their commitment and valuable contribution to this important topic.
Organizer: Dr. Terese Venus, head of research group "Bioeconomy Economics"
